Fellowship and Leadership

The LTA offers support to colleagues looking to develop
their leadership capacities in learning and teaching.

We support the development of applications for Advance HE Fellowship, including at Senior and Principal Fellowship level.
Colleagues interested in getting involved in supporting and leading learning and teaching projects, Masterclasses or collaborative learning networks
are also encouraged to get in contact to explore opportunities to develop and share their interests.

Pathways to Fellowship

The LTA supports staff across the University to attain professional recognition through AdvanceHE. This recognises professional standing in relation to the UK Professional Standards Framework.

The LTA provides different routes to Associate Fellow, Fellow, Senior Fellow and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This includes the AdvanceHE accredited Inspire programme which supports those working towards Senior Fellowship. This enables participants to reflect on their practice with a community of peers, consider the impact of their work, and identify their aspirations and development priorities for the next stage of their careers.

Find out more about Advance HE Fellowship opportunities on the AdvanceHE website.

Learning and Teaching Leadership

The LTA welcomes expressions of interest from colleagues wishing to work on specific projects or workstreams. Such opportunities could be designed to develop experience in leading institution-wide learning and teaching interventions and/or to provide space to develop and share practice in a specific area of strategic significance to the University.

As the LTA community strengthens, we will initiate an institutional Think-Tank to lead on our horizon-scanning work, exploring the trends, challenges and new opportunities that we will be confronted within the coming years.

Celebrating Excellence in Learning and Teaching

Underpinning all of the work of the LTA is a commitment to recognise, amplify and celebrate the inspiring teaching from across our University community.

The LTA supports the celebration of excellence in teaching through facilitation of the University’s Teaching Excellence Awards

The LTA is also offering opportunities for suitably experienced staff to apply for National Teaching Fellowships.

Programme Directors Forum

The Programme Directors Forum is a space for Programe Directors to share practice and learn from others.

Throughout the year, the Forum meets to discuss key topics, connecting Programme Directors to colleagues across the university. The Forum focuses on building community, sharing successes, and offering practical support. Upcoming events are advertised on the PD forum Sharepoint page. To get involved in the Forum activities, including developing the Strengthening Global Teaching Teams case studies, and join the PD Forum mailing list, please contact us LTAcademy@hw.ac.uk.
