Escape rooms are rising in prominence within education and whilst colleagues have shared their experiences at conferences, we wanted a dedicated online event to showcase and champion their use across the sector. So, in 2023 we put together an exciting line-up of keynote talks, workshops and shared practice sessions with colleagues across education into an online showcase. This turned out to be not only a day to escape from presentations and escape rooms but one that give attendees the opportunity for escapism from the day job. Overall, this was very much a cameras on by choice event – with pets and children joining in across the day – and was a very energetic end to the academic year. Following the success of last year we are excited to confirm that we are running the event again on Friday 10th May 2024 so please do save the date. The global event will kick off from 8:00 AM BST with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions so feel free to dip in and out across the day. All sessions will be delivered online with live sessions taking place in Microsoft Teams. Over the day you will have the chance to hear from experienced colleagues regarding the supporting pedagogical approaches, how to design an escape room, how to build them in digital environments and also the chance to experience a digital escape room for yourself at different points across the programme.

The call for proposals (CfP) is now closed. We had a fantastic response from colleagues and the programme will contain the following session types from across the globe:

• Live lightning talks (10 mins max).
• Pre-Recorded talks (20 mins max).
• Workshops (60 mins, hands-on experience for attendees to learn practical aspects of escape rooms in education)
• Live digital escape rooms (60 mins).
